Before You Go: Preparation Checklist
A step-by-step checklist to prepare for your dental trip to Wuhan. Documents to bring, dental records to prepare, pre-treatment instructions, packing list, and what to arrange before leaving home. Be prepared for a smooth, successful dental journey.
Documents to Bring
Make sure you have all necessary documents before traveling. Keep digital copies (photos or scans) on your phone and email them to yourself in case of loss. We recommend carrying your passport and important documents in a secure travel wallet.
- ✓Valid passport (6+ months validity remaining)
- ✓Chinese visa (we provide invitation letter)
- ✓Flight tickets and hotel confirmations
- ✓Travel insurance documents (if applicable)
- ✓Treatment plan and quote from us
- ✓Emergency contact information
Dental Records to Prepare
Bring any dental records you have from your local dentist — this helps us understand your dental history and provide the best treatment. If you have recent X-rays (panoramic or CT scan), bring them on a USB drive or as digital files. If you do not have records, we will take new X-rays at our clinic.
- ✓Recent dental X-rays (panoramic or CT scan)
- ✓Dental history and treatment records
- ✓List of current medications and allergies
- ✓Any previous implant or restoration information
- ✓Your local dentist’s contact information (for follow-up coordination)
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Follow these instructions before your dental treatment to ensure the best results and smooth recovery. If you have any medical conditions or take regular medications, inform us before treatment so we can plan accordingly. We will provide specific instructions based on your treatment plan.
- ✓Stop smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery (if applicable)
- ✓Avoid alcohol 24–48 hours before surgery
- ✓Eat a good meal before treatment (unless instructed otherwise)
- ✓Take any prescribed pre-medication as directed
- ✓Inform us of all medications and medical conditions
- ✓Get a good night’s sleep before treatment day
Packing List
Pack wisely for your dental trip. Bring comfortable clothing for recovery, and any personal items you may need during your stay. Wuhan has all modern conveniences, so you can buy most things locally if you forget something. Keep important items (medications, documents, electronics) in your carry-on luggage.
- ✓Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (especially for recovery)
- ✓Toiletries and personal care items
- ✓Any regular medications (in original packaging)
- ✓Phone charger, power adapter (China uses Type A/C/I, 220V)
- ✓Comfortable shoes for walking
- ✓Light jacket or sweater (air conditioning can be cold)
- ✓Entertainment for recovery days (books, tablet, etc.)
What to Arrange Before Leaving
Take care of these arrangements before leaving home to ensure a stress-free trip. Notify your local dentist that you are receiving treatment abroad, and arrange for any follow-up care you may need after returning. Make sure someone can take care of your home, pets, or other responsibilities while you are away.
- ✓Notify your local dentist of your treatment abroad
- ✓Arrange follow-up care with your local dentist (if needed)
- ✓Arrange pet care or house sitting (if applicable)
- ✓Set up email auto-reply or out-of-office notification
- ✓Pay any bills that come due during your trip
- ✓Share your itinerary and emergency contacts with family/friends
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How early should I arrive before my first appointment?
A: We recommend arriving at least 1 day before your first scheduled appointment. This gives you time to rest after your flight, adjust to the time zone, and meet with your patient coordinator. If you arrive on the same day as your appointment, we can usually accommodate afternoon appointments — but we recommend arriving a day early for the best experience.
Q: Should I get travel insurance?
A: We recommend getting travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and lost luggage. While complications from dental treatment are rare, it is good to have coverage for unexpected events. Make sure your insurance covers dental treatment abroad, or at least covers emergency medical care and travel disruptions.
Q: Can I bring my medications into China?
A: Yes, you can bring personal medications into China — keep them in their original packaging with the prescription label. If you take prescription medications, carry a copy of the prescription or a letter from your doctor. Do not bring more than you need for your trip plus a few extra days. If you have any questions about specific medications, ask us before traveling.
Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule my trip?
A: We understand that plans can change. Deposits are fully refundable if cancellation is made 30+ days before arrival. Cancellations within 30 days may incur a hotel cancellation fee. If you need to reschedule, we can usually move your treatment dates to a later time — just let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your new schedule.
