Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about dental treatment at Qinghua Sunshine Dentistry — qualifications, safety, pricing, treatment process, visas, and more.
1
How do I get started?
It is simple — send us your dental X-rays (panoramic or CT scan) and clear photos of your teeth through our contact form or WhatsApp. Our dental team will review your case and provide a free treatment plan with an itemized quote within 24–72 hours. There is no obligation and no cost for the initial consultation. Once you approve the plan, we will help you book your treatment and travel.
2
Is it safe to have dental treatment in China?
Absolutely. Qinghua Sunshine Dentistry operates at hospital-grade standards with an in-house clinical lab, standardized sterilization center (SHINVA hospital-grade autoclaves at 134°C), dedicated anesthesiology department, and on-site pharmacy. Our medical team is led by Dr. Chen Qinghua (20+ years), with specialists trained at top medical universities. All treatment follows strict international protocols.
3
Are the dentists formally and validly qualified to practice?
Patient safety is our top priority. All the dentists at Wuhan Tsinghua Sunshine Dentistry hold the Physician Qualification Certificate and Physician Practicing Certificate issued by the Chinese national authorities. They are registered in the official system of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, with their registered practice location at our institution and their practice scope limited to stomatology.
You may verify doctors’ qualifications via the official National Health Commission physician registration inquiry website: https://zgcx.nhc.gov.cn/doctor. Enter the doctor’s full name plus “Tsinghua Sunshine Dental” to access public registration records.
Our clinic is a formal secondary-level dental chain approved by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission. All dentists regularly attend domestic and international dental technical training. If you confirm an in-person consultation, we can send you the attending doctor’s name in advance for your pre-verification.

4
Is there any risk of cross-infection during treatment?
Our clinic strictly follows Chinese dental hospital-infection-control protocols to minimise cross-infection risks. Single-use consumables including gloves, dental cups, saliva ejectors and examination kits are provided for each patient and discarded immediately after use — never reused.
Metal instruments undergo high-temperature high-pressure steam sterilisation. Dental chair and work surfaces are covered with disposable barrier films and replaced and disinfected between every patient. Clinical staff change gloves for each patient and follow strict hand-hygiene standards. You may inspect sterile single-use packaging materials on-site during your appointment.

5
Are imported implant brands and products authentic?
All imported implants are supplied through official brand channels in China and certified by the National Medical Products Administration. Each implant carries an independent batch number for full traceability. You may inspect original product packaging before surgery, and an official manufacturer warranty card will be provided after treatment.
Warranty services are offered by implant manufacturers. Swiss ITI implant bodies enjoy a lifetime manufacturer warranty; other imported brands offer 5-10-year warranties subject to official brand policies.
Important reminder: The manufacturer warranty covers only free replacement of the implant fixture itself. Surgical fees, crowns, abutments and other components are not included. For cross-border warranty claims after you return home, you will need to contact local brand after-sales support directly. Our team will fully cooperate by providing your medical records upon request.

How much can I really save?
Most patients save 60–75% compared to international average prices. For example: single implant $800–$1,500 (intl avg $3,000–$5,000), All-on-4 $9,800–$15,000 per jaw (intl avg $25,000–$40,000), E-max veneer $250–$450 (intl avg $1,000–$2,000). Even adding flights and accommodation, most patients save thousands — and get a trip to China in the process.
7
Are CBCT scans, intra-oral scanning and basic examinations charged separately?
Basic in-person consultation examinations are free of charge. High-precision imaging services including 3D-CBCT and digital intra-oral scanning incur separate standard fees. Examination fees can be waived if you proceed with implant or orthodontic treatment at Tsinghua Sunshine Dental. All charges are clearly itemised in quotations with zero hidden costs.
8
Are abutments, temporary teeth, medications and follow-up visits subject to extra charges?
Costs depend on your selected implant package. Standard healing abutments are generally included; custom-made abutments incur additional fees. Temporary teeth are usually not included and are charged separately. Post-operative medications are billed separately.
Post-stage-one check-ups and suture removal are free of charge. Long-term follow-up CBCT scans and advanced therapies incur separate fees. All additional-cost items will be fully disclosed in advance.
Our clinic never forces extra procedures or raises prices without notice during treatment. If new clinical findings require plan adjustments, dentists will explain the rationale and provide updated quotations. Any additional treatment will only proceed upon your explicit consent, and you retain full right of choice. All pricing is itemised upfront.

What is the complete process from initial dental examination to final crown delivery?
1. Initial comprehensive dental assessment: CBCT scan, panoramic X-ray, periodontal examination, bone-condition evaluation and occlusal analysis. The dentist will confirm your implant suitability, recommend treatment plans, available implant brands and a full quotation. A preliminary treatment plan can be prepared on the same day.
2. Pre-operative preparation (if required): Pre-treatment for periodontal disease, insufficient bone volume, bone grafting with bone powder / membrane or maxillary sinus elevation will extend overall treatment timelines where indicated.
3. Stage-one surgery — implant fixture placement: The imported implant fixture is inserted into the alveolar bone, followed by wound suturing. Suture removal takes place 7-10 days post-surgery.
4. Osseointegration healing phase: The implant must integrate firmly with surrounding bone. Typical healing time is approximately 3 months for the mandible and 4-6 months for the maxilla. Most patients may return home during this waiting period and are not required to remain in China.
5. Stage-two surgery / impression taking: Once osseointegration is complete, a healing abutment is placed and intra-oral impressions are captured for fabrication of the definitive crown.
6. Definitive crown placement, occlusal adjustment & treatment completion: The finished crown is fitted, occlusion is fine-tuned, oral-hygiene guidance is provided, and treatment is concluded.

How long do I need to stay in China for implant surgery? Are multiple visits required?
Plan A: Conventional implant treatment (most common)
First trip to China: Initial consultation + stage-one implant surgery. Minimum stay: 7-10 days (covering surgery, post-operative review and suture removal). After suture removal you may return home and wait 3-6 months for bone healing.
Second trip to China: After osseointegration is achieved, return for impression taking and definitive crown installation. Required stay: 5-7 days.
👉 Total: 2 entries into China
Plan B: Immediate implant placement (only for eligible bone conditions)
An implant fixture is placed on the same day as tooth extraction. A temporary crown may be fitted if clinical conditions permit. Even with immediate implantation, the definitive permanent crown will still normally require waiting for osseointegration, so treatment is completed in two separate visits.
Plan C: Full-mouth reconstruction / complex multi-tooth implants
Longer treatment durations apply. Some clinical cases require 3 in-person visits, subject to dentist assessment.
Supplementary note: Remote online follow-up is available while you are overseas during healing for simple recovery updates. However, impression taking, crown fitting and stage-two surgical procedures require in-person attendance and cannot be completed remotely.

How are post-operative complications managed — implant loosening, gingival inflammation and pain?
Many international patients worry about implant loosening, gingival inflammation or pain after returning home following implant surgery.
Mild soreness and swelling within 3-5 days after surgery are normal post-operative reactions. You may take prescribed medication and apply cold compresses for relief.
For gingival redness, bleeding or inflammation, maintain thorough oral hygiene and use a gentle mouth rinse. If symptoms persist, seek evaluation by a local dentist, as periodontal inflammation can trigger bone loss.
Important warning: Implant mobility is NOT a normal outcome. If you notice any movement of the implant fixture, immediately stop chewing on that side and contact our clinic right away.
Should complications occur after you return home, we can provide your complete medical records to support local dental care.

What if something goes wrong after I return home?
We provide complete dental records, implant specifications (brand, size, serial number), and all X-rays for your local dentist. Our warranty covers clinical issues — if a problem arises, we will coordinate with your local dentist or arrange a return visit for free repair (you cover travel costs). Our patient coordinator is available by email and WhatsApp after you return home.
13
Do you speak English? Will I understand my dentist?
Yes. We have built a complete bilingual-service system for international dental patients to remove language barriers and guarantee smooth communication throughout your care journey.
Professional English-speaking customer-service staff support pre-treatment inquiries, preliminary-plan discussions and appointment scheduling via channels such as WhatsApp. English-language versions of quotations, workflows and pre-treatment instructions can be shared.
On-site in-clinic visits follow a “dentist + bilingual coordinator” model. Bilingual staff accompany you throughout appointments, assist accurate medical communication and explain dental findings, treatment plans, surgical risks, full cost breakdowns and post-operative-care guidelines. You will never leave a clinic appointment confused.
